AuthGate integration
Zipplet's Stuff supports AuthGate. If you have an AuthGate account you may login using it. It behaves the same as a local account. The only thing to watch out for - if you choose to delete your account, and then revisit the site while you are logged into AuthGate, your account will be recreated anew.
If you wonder how it works - when you login with AuthGate, Zipplet's Stuff creates an account for you, which can only be logged into by using AuthGate. You can ask for this to be deleted (details on the My Controls page) if you want your records removed at any time.
AuthGate seems to be down, can I login to my account using the local login form? No. I ask you this: If .NET passport is down, can you login to MSN anyway? ;) Ofcourse not.
If I login as "bob" using AuthGate, can someone create a local account called "bob" and steal my identity? No. Zipplet's Stuff will not allow local accounts to be created if they clash with an AuthGate account that has been used on Zipplet's Stuff.
What if someone already created an account called "abc" locally without authgate, and I go to login as "abc" with AuthGate? Your AuthGate account will have ag_ prepended to the name when in use on Zipplet's Stuff - so you will appear as ag_abc. This is unavoidable.
This all seems too complicated, with two different ways to login! So, just create an account using AuthGate or my signup form, and login using the correct service. You don't need to know how it works to use it.
What benefit is there to using an AuthGate account? You will be able to login to other websites that also support AuthGate, with a single username and password.
